Fine Art Stage 3

Skin and Bone

My 'Skin and Bone' series comprises of a A3 Cyanotype with sections of the body painted in oil. I combined paint brushes and fingertips to created a blended appearance that symbolised my own experience of medicine. The Cyanotype made me think of the various medical imagery techniques that I have experienced regularly since my diagnosis.

Skin and Bone

Skin and Bone is comprised of four portraits and two landscape mixed media paintings. During the making of the series, I was inspired by the images created by x-rays. I combined my interest in the human form and medicine in order to create a skeleton-like cyanotype. In order to illustrate the pain and discomfort I myself experience during painful days, I used a palette knife to paint small areas of fleshy tones. The works are incomplete in order to highlight that there is often no end point in a condition; that it is a journey of new technques and appoitments.

Several of the final works include a bulldog clip on an edge to again refernace x-rays and the medical profession that highly influenced me.
